Back to Reality
So we're back home and the novelty has worn off!!! Our care free travel days seem like a million years ago so thought we should finish the website. Must admit the last month has been a bit of a drag but things are starting to look up on the job front and looks like we'll be in our new house in a couple of weeks so we'll keep the site updated with house photos.
Looking back at our time in NZ we've come up with a few bests and worsts to share, this was very difficult to do because we had such a good time:
Bests:
Wine = St Claire Sav blanc and Seifried Sav Blanc
Wine Region = Martinborough
Vineyard = Rippon and Mudbrick both for the scenery
Meal = On the Waterfront in Russel for our 2 year anniversary
Muffin = My own Pumpkin and chocolate that I made in Ritual Cafe
Cafe Stop = Driving to Kaikora on the coast
Walk = 3 days around the beaches at Cape Reinga
Doc Hut = Muller hut, watching the sunset over Mt Cook
Tourist Attraction = Sky Dive Abel Tasman
Drive = Milford Road from Te Anau to Milford Sound
Adventure = Kayaking on Lake Wanaka with special friends and Ice Climbing
Party Night = Opening of Lago Cafe (I was very ill)!
Beach = Mosquito Bay, Abel Tasman and Cathedral Cove, Coromandels
Worsts:
Meal = Gregs overpriced tinned tomatoes at Sileni Vineyard
Cafe Stop = Russel cos they wouldn't let us plug in the laptop
Drive = Through Canterbury
City = Invercargill ( end of the earth)!
Person = Micka for being the angriest chef ever
Night in the Van = Moke lake, big storm
Job = Grape picking
Favorite Places, just because we had to name a few:
Waiheke Island = Nice beaches, great vineyards and olive groves and chilled atmosphere.
Wanaka = Amazing Scenery, great people, fun place to settle for 6 months
Marahau(Abel Tasman) = Friendly little village, great kayaking, walking and beaches.
Favorite People, again this is just a short list of all the great people we met:
Monty and Bill = For housing and feeding us so many times and dealing with mail, bags etc. Good luck with the wedding, we're gutted we can't be there with you.
Amanda & Fabrice = For showing us campervan life on our first couple of nights in Toot Toot
Annemarie & Dan = Great to be invoved in their special wedding and use of the family batch on waiheke. Good Luck with your new house in Browns Bay
Karen @ Mudbrick = for giving us a chance to work in a fantastic place
Sascha = For always giving us something to laugh at, can't wait to meet up back in UK
Mum & dad = For flying all that way to spend time with us, and treat us to some lovely meals
Everyone @ Mainly Tramping = for being helpful and friendly especially Steve and Kay for giving Greg a job
Sarah & Jaz = For being great drinking, eating, dancin, kayaking, biking, just all round friends
Emma & Aarron = letting us have Kaya when we needed puppy love. Congratulations on your engagement we'll be back in 6yrs for the wedding!!
Chris & Paul = For introducing us to the gay way of life!
Nat & Francois = Giving us a place to crash in Queenstown when we got bored of Wanaka
Sandra, Zoe and all the family = giving us a job and a great place to park our van for a month
Eddie & Zenya = Great food, wine and company by the lake
